Her face is rendered sharply enough to register as portrait, but resolution breaks down as you move outward. The garment flattens into a dark shape. The “background” behaves like depth for a moment, then falls back into surface. Edges flicker between figure and field, never fully choosing one or the other. Contour Collapse points to the instability of perception itself: where form should be reliable, it becomes provisional instead.
